Last week I had the privilege of deer hunting in South Texas. When we came up on a herd of deer grazing, the guide gave me the green light to shoot a 6 year old buck. But before I could do that, a younger deer that he thinks is the largest buck on the lease wandered into the picture. Because of his age, that buck was off limits.

My good friend and fellow pastor, Shawn Bergen, was with me and he decided to capture the event on his iPhone. Through binoculars. That’s right, the video below was shot by holding binoculars over the camera lens of an iPhone. He recorded nearly 10 minutes, including the build up and the aftermath. The clip below just shows the take down shot.

As a native Texan who grew up hunting, this hunt was incredible. I expect that the meat will feed my family for the next year and the trophy mount will adorn my wall for years to come.
